This teaches you how to change the overall language on your Android phone or tablet, as well as how to change your Android keyboard's input language.
1Changing the Display Language

- 2Scroll down and tap Languages & input. It's a globe-shaped icon near the middle of the Settings menu.[1]
- On a Samsung Galaxy phone, you'll instead tap General management which is next to the image of sliders, then tap Language and input.
- 3Tap Languages. This option is at the top of the screen.
- 4Tap Add a language. It's the bottom option on the page; you'll see a + next to it.
- 5Select a language. Tap the language that you want to use for your Android's menus and stock apps.
- 6Select a variation of the language. When prompted, tap the version of the language that you want to use.
- Some languages won't have this option. If you find yourself back at the "Language" page, skip this step.
- 7Move the language to the top of the menu. Tap and hold the far-right corner of the language, then drag it to the top of the menu.
- On a Samsung Galaxy, you'll first tap EDIT in the top-right corner before dragging the language.
- On a Samsung Galaxy, you can also tap EDIT in the top-right corner, check the box next to the undesired language, and tap DELETE in the top-right corner to remove it.
2Changing the Input Language

- 2Scroll down and tap Languages & input. It's a globe-shaped icon near the middle of the Settings menu.
- 3Tap Virtual keyboard. This option is below the "Keyboard and input methods" heading in the middle of the page.
- On a Samsung Galaxy, you'll find this option below the "KEYBOARDS" heading.
- 4Select your Android's default keyboard. On most Androids, you'll tap Gboard here.[2]
- If you use a different keyboard, select it instead. For example, the default keyboard on a Samsung Galaxy is Samsung Keyboard.
- 5Tap Languages. It should be the top option on this page.
- If you use a keyboard that's different than the default Android keyboard, you may have to tap ⋮ or Settings to find the language menu.
- On a Samsung Galaxy, tap Languages and types here.

- 7Add languages. Tap the grey switch to the right of a language to enable the language for your Android's keyboard.
- 8Activate the language. When typing, press and hold the spacebar (or tap the globe icon, if available) to bring up a list of your currently enabled languages, then select a language.
- On a Samsung Galaxy, swipe left or right the keyboard to change the language. The current language will be displayed on the spacebar.
