How to change language in facebook mobile

With over 100 languages to choose from, Facebook probably supports your own language so that you can read everything in what's comfortable to you. If you've already changed your Facebook language, you can also read Facebook in English (or any language) again in just a few easy steps.
There are two primary ways to choose a different language for Facebook. If you're on a computer, you can do so from the Language area of your account settings or from the News Feed page. However, if you're using the mobile app, the steps are entirely different between Android and iOS.
One of the fun language options on Facebook is Pirate English. Menus and your labels on various pages will change to the pirate lingo, like "sea dogs" and "wenches" in place of "friends." It will definitely look funny to you but you can rest assured that nobody else can see it unless they, too, change their own language settings.
There are even lots of languages you can choose from that most websites don't support, like Zaza, Malti, Brezhoneg, Hausa, Af-Soomaali, Galego, Basa Jawa, Cymraeg, and upside-down English.

Picking a Different Language to Use on Facebook

It's easy to change the language in which Facebook displays text. Either access the Language Settings page through this link and then skip down to Step 4 or follow these steps in order:

Changing the Language From the Settings.
  1. Click or tap the arrow on the far right side of the Facebook menu bar, to the right of the Quick Help question mark.
  2. Select Settings at the bottom of that menu.
  3. Choose the Language tab on the left.
  4. On the very first line, the one that reads "What language do you want to use Facebook in?", select Edit off to the right.
  5. Choose a language from the drop-down menu.
  6. Click or tap the blue Save Changes button to apply the new language to Facebook.
Another way to change the language you see on Facebook is via the News Feed:

Changing the Language From the News Feed.
  1. Go to your profile's News Feed page, or click here.
  2. Scroll down enough that the menu on the right, between the feed and the chat box, shows a language section. There are popular languages there that you can choose from, like English, Spanish, German, and Portuguese. Click one and confirm it with the Change Language button that appears.
  3. Another option is to click the plus (+) sign to see all of the supported languages. Select a language from that screen to immediately apply it to your Facebook.
If you're using Facebook on a mobile browser, you can change the language from the menu button:

  1. Tap the menu button at the very top right corner.
  2. Scroll all the way down until you reach the very last section of the settings, and then tap Language (the first option that uses two letters as the icon).
  3. Pick a language from the list to immediately change Facebook to that language.
Another place you can change the language for Facebook is if you're using the Android app. Just open the settings and select any language from the list.

Changing the Language From the Android App.
  1. Tap the menu button at the very top right corner of the app.
  2. Scroll down toward the bottom of the menu and choose Settings & Privacy
  3. Tap Language in the smaller menu that shows up.
  4. Pick a language from the list.
Note: If you're on an iPhone, you cannot change the language of Facebook through the mobile app. Instead, Facebook uses whatever language your phone is set up to use, so to change it you have to pick a different language for your entire phone. Do this through the Settingsapp via General > Language & Region > iPhone Language.

How to Change the Facebook Language Back to English

Did you change Facebook to a language you don't understand? Don't worry, you can translate Facebook back into English pretty quickly even if you don't understand any of the menus or settings.
One option is to run Facebook through a translator service so that the entire site translates to English on the fly, with the intention of making things a lot easier to read. However, that doesn't always works so great, plus it's not permanent.
The other way to change Facebook to English is to poke around the settings using language-independent directions:

Here's what to do (from a computer):

  1. Open this link to jump right to the language settings.
  2. Open the drop-down menu at the top of that page and pick the English option you want.
  3. Click the blue button below that menu to save the changes so that Facebook will translate back to English.

Deactivate twitter on app

Are you done with Twitter? While it’s a great tool that can keep you informed and entertained, its not for everyone. Or maybe you just want to take a break from the social networks and the potential drama that sometimes comes with it ( (exes, anyone?). Whatever your reason for leaving may be, escaping from the Twitter realm is not a very complicated task, if you know what steps to take.

In this post we will show you exactly how it’s done, so keep reading for all the details.
Editor’s note: Leaving Twitter because you’re unhappy with its official app? Before taking off, you might want to instead consider one of the more reputable 3rd party Twitter apps. You can find more about this in our best Twitter apps roundup.

Things to know before leaving

There are a few technical things you should know about before making this decision. Let’s run through them real quick.
  • Sadly, you can’t yet do this from the Twitter application. You will need a computer (or a phone with a browser set to desktop mode).
  • Twitter will keep your information in its servers for 30 days after you deactivate your account. You know… just in case you get cold feet and decide to come back.
  • In these 30 days, you can reactivate your account by simply logging in.
  • If for any reason you want to use the same email or username on a new account, you can simply change them in the settings, then confirm your changes. Just make sure this is done before deactivating the account at hand.
  • Some content may still be view-able for a few days. If you really need some stuff to disappear, go delete it first.

How do I poke someone

2 Cool Ways To Poke Someone On Facebook superpokeHave you ever asked yourself exactly what does it mean to poke someone on Facebook? Facebook added the odd “poke” feature with no real purpose except as an additional method you can use to say hello or attract your friend’s attention.
Some people consider it annoying, others consider it as a form of flirting, and others just use it to get their friend to wake up and start posting updates again. This means that at the moment there’s no real accepted “poking etiquette,” and people are pretty much making up their own rules. In simple technical terms, a “poke” is a link that you click on under someone’s profile picture in order to post a message on their Facebook page that you’ve just poked them. That’s really all there is to it – it’s simple. Or is it?
Since “poking” is basically the process of posting a message to your friend’s wall to wake them up, flirt or annoy – why couldn’t you do the same thing with a simple message? The fact is – you can. And message “poking” adds a bit of flexibility and fun to the process.

How to Poke a Friend

Experienced Facebook users can skip over this section, but I’m including it for those of you who are very new to Facebook and you’ve never used the poke feature before. This explanation strictly the Facebook “Poke” feature – not the message approach. First, go to a friend’s profile and take a look under the profile picture.
what does it mean to poke someone on facebook
Underneath their photo is where you’ll find the “Poke <name>” feature. Poking someone is as simple as clicking on that link under their photo. Once you do this, a new window pops up asking you to confirm.
what does it mean to poke someone on facebook
Once you click the “Poke” button – the person will receive a poke notification on their wall and they’ll see that you just poked them. As you can see – there’s no way to tell a person why you just poked them – so it’s up to the other person to read into your motivations, and of course this can lead to misunderstanding and confusion. But then again, isn’t that the fun of a social network? Don’t worry though, this is only the very simplest version of “poking” on Facebook. There are lots of other ways to do it that are a lot more fun.

2 Cool Ways to Poke People on Facebook

For experienced Facebook users, the standard Poke feature is old hat. If you want to take the “poking” approach to get your friend’s attention, you’ll want to install the Facebook Superpoke! application.
what does it mean to poke someone on facebook
The Superpoke! is a much more interactive method you can use to send over the kind of pokes that’ll leave very little room for misunderstanding. For example, go ahead and blow a kiss at the girl you’re trying to date. Send a high five poke to a friend who just aced an exam. Or maybe even dropkick someone for saying something stupid. Once you’ve installed SuperPoke!, all you have to do is go to the person’s profile and just under the status box, you can click on the “more” drop-down arrow. If they have SuperPoke! installed on their profile, you’ll see the option there.
what does poke mean on facebook
Even if they don’t have it installed – have no fear, you can still Superpoke! a friend – just go back to the Superpoke! app and on the right side you’ll see a box where you can select who to superpoke from your list of friends.
what does poke mean on facebook
Go ahead and superpoke anyone you want. As you can see, this version of poking lets you add a message to your poke. The odds are that they’ll find it so funny they’ll probably install the app and poke you back. Beware – superpoking is addictive!
The second form of poking that some people use is ASCII art pokes. Instead of using any sort of poke feature, you can send someone a message in the form of a poke in ASCII Text.
what does poke mean on facebook
You can do quite a bit with ASCII art, if you know how. If you’re curious how you can create images with simple ASCII keys, check out Saikat’s article on keyboard techniques to create cool symbols. You can really go crazy with ASCII art (and a lot of people do!)

So, what does it mean to you when you poke someone on Facebook? Hopefully, these two new methods to poke your friends has inspired you to prod those friends into becoming a little more active and posting some fresh new updates to their status. Do you know of any other cool ways to poke people in Facebook? Share your own techniques in the comments section below.

How can I hide friends on facebook

Privacy is one of the big concerns of Facebook, but recently FB implemented a lot of new settings for maintaining a user’s privacy.
Now, a user has control on almost everything in their profile (e.g. status, photos, albums etc). The user also has the control of how they want to share material (e.g. with everyone, friends, friends of friends, etc). Users can even manually hide a status from specific people.
Did you know that you can even hide your friend list? It’s true.
If you don’t want strangers to see your friend list, then you can just hide it from them. It’s very easy. You can use the enhanced Facebook privacy settings to modify your friend list’s visibility.
Hide facebook friend list
One thing which I have noticed when you keep your friend list public is that many people see that list and start adding friends blindly.
And seeing common friends, other friends usually accept the friend request. It’s kind of embarrassing when your female friend informs you that some mutual friend of yours has sent her a friend request.
It’s better to let your friend list be visible only to you and hidden from others.

This guide has been updated to match the new Facebook privacy settings, as Facebook made some major changes recently. So, follow this new tutorial and hide your Facebook friend list from others:
  • Login to your Facebook account
  • Go to your Profile page
  • Click on Friends
Now, on your Facebook friend list page, simply click on the “Manage” icon at the top right & click on “Edit Privacy”.
From here you can control who can see your friend list and who can’t. I usually keep it visible to me only, as this is better for the privacy of my friends because I don’t want them to be bombarded with unlimited friend requests.
Check out this screenshot for better understanding:

If you don’t want anyone to see your Facebook friend list, keep the “Who can see your friend list” setting to “Only Me”.
(Keeping your Facebook friend list visible for others is totally your choice, but my suggestion would be to keep it hidden from the privacy of your friends.)

The 10 Best Online hotel sites

When it comes to booking hotel stays, travelers have many options, including the hotels’ own websites, online travel agencies (Expedia, Orbitz, Hotels.com, etc.), and aggregator sites, like Kayak and Trivago, which compile results from multiple booking engines and sites.

The Best Hotel Booking Sites to Visit

The sheer number of options can be overwhelming. And adding to the difficulty of making a confident choice, the landscape is in constant flux, with once-trusted names falling by the wayside as shiny new upstarts bring more robust technology and better user interfaces to the space.
For those who find themselves overwhelmed, or just need a refresher on the latest and greatest, Frommer’s newly released “Best and Worst Hotel Booking Websites” survey will help narrow the field.
Here’s how Frommer’s described the survey’s methodology: “In order to rank them, we ran all the major sites through a battery of tests to determine which found the most options and the lowest rates—both in various price categories and on specific hotels—in Boston, Rome, and Hong Kong.”
The alluded-to “battery of tests” appears to have been quite exhaustive. In reading the reviews of the listed sites, it’s clear that Frommer’s considered a host of variables, including the number of hotels and destinations covered, choice filters, sort options, success in locating the lowest price, and so on.
The result is a compilation of booking sites that includes some of the old standbys but also some sites that many travelers will be hearing about for the first time.
Frommer’s 10 best:
  1. HotelsCombined.com
  2. Trivago
  3. Booking.com
  4. Priceline
  5. Hotels.com
  6. Expedia /Travelocity
  7. Agoda.com
  8. HostelWorld.com
  9. Orbitz
  10. HotelTonight
Note that most hotels only award loyalty-program points for bookings made on their own websites. That doesn’t make the Frommer’s list irrelevant, however; it’s still worth checking third-party sites to see whether the rate quoted on the hotel site is the lowest available.
