If you have forgotten your Instagram password, these steps will help you recover it.

Recover Your Password Using Your Username

To recover your password, start by opening the Instagram app and tappingForgot password?, for iOS users, orGet help signing in, for Android users.

On the login screen, tap the Username tab, and enter your Instagram username or the email address that you used when signing up for your account. If you do not remember either of these, you will need to use another method.
Once you have entered your information, tap Send Login Link:


You will receive at the email address that you used to sign up for Instagram a link to reset your password. Click this link in the email, and you will be taken to a page that will prompt you to enter a new password.
Choose a new code, and save your changes. The next time that you log into Instagram, be sure to use this new code.

Recover Your Password via SMS

If you are using an Android device, you can choose to reset your password via SMS. Open the Instagram app, and on the login screen, tapGet help signing inbelowLogin. Tap theSend an SMSoption.
You will receive an SMS at the phone number that you have registered with Instagram. Follow the instructions in the message to reset your password.
N.B. This option is not available for iOS users.

Recover Your Account via Facebook

Instagram gives you the option to log into your account using your Facebook credentials. On the login screen, tap eitherGet help signing in, if you use Android, orForgot password?, for iOS users. At the bottom of the screen that pops up, selectLog in with Facebook. (For iOS users, this option is also available on the first login screen.)
When prompted to allow Instagram to connect you using your Facebook account, select Continue:

On Android

If you are having trouble resetting your password because you don't remember your email address, phone number, or Facebook account, Instagram can provide you with additional help.

Tap Use Username or Email, then enter your username or your email address. Next, tap the right arrow in the top-right corner. Tap Need more help?, then follow the on-screen instructions.

On iOS

Open the Instagram app, then tapForgot password?:

1. Download the app

Instagram is different from other social networks in that it is primarily a mobile platform.

Once your account is set up, you will have a page that can be viewed on desktop, but the majority of your activity will take place within the mobile app.

2. Choose a recognizable username

You can sign up for Instagram with an email address or a personal Facebook account.

Once you sign up, you’ll be asked to choose a username.

Your username will display publicly and will be what people see when they find you on Instagram. Make sure the username you choose is recognizable and is as close to your business or organization’s name as possible.

When signing up, Instagram will also ask for your full name. Here, you can put your full business name which will make it easier for people to find you through Instagram’s search function.

3. Update your profile

Instagram lets you fill out a 150 character bio about your business. Because of the text limitations, you’ll want to be clear and concise about who you are and what you offer. If you serve a local customer base, you’ll also want to add your location.

You can also add your business’s website, which users will be able to click to visit right from their mobile device.

4. Add a recognizable profile picture

The perfect Instagram profile photo will be 400×400 pixels.

But what’s most important is that the photo you choose is recognizable to people who know your business. In most cases, the best choice will be your business’s logo.

Your profile photo can only be updated on a mobile device. If you don’t have your logo saved to your smartphone or tablet, Instagram has the option to import it from Facebook or Twitter.

You can also take a new photo with Instagram.

5. Research

It might not sound fun, but without having a good understanding of the type of pictures others are posting, you won’t know what content tends to do well. And lucky for you, Instagram research is less staring-at-piles-of-data-wearing-a-lab-coat kind of research, and more look-at-pretty-pictures kind of research.

Start by finding a business in your industry who has a hefty Instagram following and high levels of engagement. What do they tend to send, and when do they tend to send it?

Even if you want to differentiate yourself from the competition, it’s essential that you know what others are doing.

6. Post your first photo

Okay, now that your profile is set up, it’s time to take your first photo.

Here’s a quick run-through of how Instagram works:

First, click the icon on the bottom in the middle of the screen.

You can either take a photo by pressing the circle in the middle of the screen, or click “library” on the bottom left to upload a photo of your own.

Note: “Video” on the right enables you to take a video up to a minute.

If you’re uploading a photo, you will have the option to crop it first. After that, you’ll have options for different enhancements.

You can choose from a number of filters that scroll across the bottom of the app. (Double tap the filter to add a border or alter the strength of the filter.

You can also click “edit” to access a number of other photo editing features.

Once you’re happy with your photo, hit NEXT in the top right of the screen. Here, you’ll be able to add a caption.

You can also tag people and name the location.

7. Setting up your location

When you click, Add Location you will see a list of previously used locations in your general area.

If you have a brick and mortar location, you may see that someone has already named your location. If your store, restaurant, or office hasn’t been named, you can name it yourself.

After your photo is posted, you will see the location name in blue. When you click on your location name, you’ll be able to see every photo that has been tagged there. This can be a great resource for seeing what people like and want to share about your business.

8. Tell people you’re on Instagram

Leverage your existing channels to let people know your business is on Instagram.

9. Follow others

Instagram’s search function makes it easy to find people and brands to follow.

You can search by username, or choose a hashtag that may be relevant to your business.

Following more people and businesses is a great way to make new connections and can also provide inspiration for your Instagram account.

10. Get social

You’ve set up your account, learned the basics, and found the right people to follow; now you’re ready to start building a presence for your business on Instagram.

A key component of building an audience on Instagram is engaging with the people who follow you. When someone likes or comments on your photo, you will receive a notification.

You can respond within the comments of a photo by including the “@” symbol, followed by their username.

You will also receive notifications when someone tags you in a photo. You can view all of the photos you’ve been tagged in, on your Instagram profile.

How to access facebook when you loose your Password

Did you forget your password and can no longer log in? Or was your account hacked?

You are not alone! Hundreds of people turn to us with similar questions every day. Fortunately, Facebook offers several automated ways to reclaim your account. Whether you forgot your password or can no longer log in because a hacker changed it, you have several options. We’ll show you how to recover your Facebook account, step-by-step.

Note: This article covers everything I know about Facebook account recovery. Read this article, read the comments, and if you still have questions, leave your own comment and hope for the best. There’s nothing more I know or can do to help.

1. Are You Still Logged In Somewhere?

Before you try to recover your account, check whether you are still logged into Facebook on any of your devices. This could be another browser or browser profile on your computer, your Facebook Android or iOS app, or a mobile browser, for example on your tablet. 

2. Have You Tried the Default Account Recovery Options Yet?

OK, so you could not find a device where you were still logged into Facebook. Let’s proceed with the recovery then. If possible, use a network or computer from which you’ve logged into your Facebook account before.

First, you need to identify your account. Head to the Facebook recover page and use an email address or phone number you previously added to your Facebook account. Even if it doesn’t say so, you can also use your Facebook username.

Once you successfully managed to identify your account, you will see a summary of your profile. Before you proceed, carefully check whether this really is your account and whether you still have access to the email address(es) or mobile phone number(s) listed.

Should you No longer have access to these? proceed to point 3 of this article.

If all looks well with the contact details that Facebook has on file for you, however, click Continue. Facebook will send you a security code. Retrieve it, enter it, and rejoice in having recovered your account.

If the code never arrives, click Didn’t get a code?, which will take you back to the previous Reset Your Password screen. You can try again or maybe you’ll realize that you don’t have access to the account/s after all.

Back Into Your Account

If you managed to regain access to your account and if you suspect that your account was hacked, immediately change your password (use a strong password!) and update your contact information. These are key steps in securing your Facebook account. Be sure to remove any email addresses or phone numbers that are not your own or that you can no longer access.

 

We strongly recommend that you enable two-factor authentication, so this won’t happen again.

3. Did Your Contact Information Change?

Often, it’s not possible to recover an account using the options above. Maybe you no longer have access to the email address(es) and phone number(s) you once added to your profile. Or maybe a hacker changed this information. In that case, Facebook allows you to specify a new email address, which they will use to contact you about recovering your account.

To start this process, click the link No longer have access to these? in the bottom left on the reset password page to start the recovery process. Facebook will ask you for a new email address or phone number, so that they can reach out to you if needed. Click Continue to proceed.

If you have set up Trusted Contacts, you will have the chance to use these to recover your account in the next step.

You’ll need to remember at least one full name of your three to five Trusted Contacts to reveal all of them. Note that you only need three codes to recover your account.

If you didn’t set up Trusted Contacts, you might be given the option to answer one of your security questions and reset your password on the spot. As an additional precaution, this comes with a 24 hour waiting period before you can access your account.

Otherwise, you might have to wait until Facebook gets in touch to verify your identity. Be patient!

4. Was Your Account Hacked & Is Sending Out Spam?

In the event that your account was hacked and is posting spam to the walls of your friends while you can no longer access it, you should report your Facebook account as compromised.

This will actually start a similar yet different process as the one outlined above. While you will use the same information to identify your account, in the following step you will be able to use either a current or an old Facebook password to recover your account.

This is useful in case a hacker changed your password, but it may also come in handy in case you forgot your new password.

5. Still Locked Out of Facebook?

If all of the recovery methods above failed, your last hope is Facebook itself. You can try emailing security@facebookmail.com to explain your situation. They might give you a chance to prove your identity using your passport or driver’s license. This can take several weeks, so practice patience.

Note: If you didn’t use your real name on Facebook, your hopes for recovering your account this way are close to zero.

If All Else Fails, Create a New Facebook Profile

Over the past few years, I have received countless comments and messages from people who weren’t able to recover their accounts. Usually, their contact information was outdated, the recovery codes Facebook provided didn’t work, or the company would never reach out to verify their identity. Use your Facebook friends as a resource. Click on their Friends and scroll through their list of friends. This is a great way to find someone in common that you might have forgotten about.

Filter Your Facebook Results

Once you start typing something into the Facebook search bar, a feature called Facebook Typeahead kicks in, which returns the most relevant results from your immediate contacts.By default, when you search for someone on Facebook, you will get all the result on one page: people, pages, groups, events, networks, etc. You can filter these easily by using the search filters on the left-hand side of the search results page. Once you click on one of those filters, your search results will rearrange themselves into only results that coincide with that particular subject, making it easier for you to track down who you are looking for.

Search For Two Things at Once

Facebook (unfortunately) does not have much in the way of advanced search, but you can search for two things at once by using the pipe character (you can make this character by pressing shift backslash). For example, you could look for baseball and Billy Smith with this search: "baseball  |  Billy Smith."

Use the People You May Know link as a jumping off point. You will see potential friends and fan pages here.
By default, when you search for a topic on Facebook, the results you see will be from your list of contacts; your "circle of friends", so to speak. If you would like to expand that circle to include results from anyone who has chosen to make their Facebook information publicly accessible, simply click on "Posts By Everyone." This gives you the option to view information from people who are not included in your contact list.

Find Classmates on Facebook

Search for former classmates on Facebook. You can either simply browse through a graduation year (this is a GREAT way to find people you have lost touch with), or you can type in a specific name to get more narrowed results.You'll also be given people from your alma mater if you include it in your own Facebook profile.

If someone has ever been affiliated with a company (and has put this affiliation on their Facebook profile), you will be able to find it using the Facebook company search page.

Search for Facebook Networks

This Facebook search page is especially helpful. Use the drop-down menu to search within your networks, or browse the left-hand side menu to filter your search results (recently updated, lists, possible connections, etc.).
Facebook's general search page searches ALL results; friends, groups, posts by friends, and Web results (powered by ​Bing). You are given the option to "like" pages and groups that you might be interested in here, as well as search for specific words within your friends' status updates.

Unfortunately, there is no way to directly contact Facebook–you can't call, text, email, or otherwise speak to an employee or affiliate of Facebook. You can, however, use Facebook's Help Center to diagnose and report a problem with your account.This teaches you the basics of navigating Facebook's Help Center to troubleshoot common account problems.

Method 1

Using Facebook Resources

   Open the Facebook Help Center webpage. If you aren't already logged into Facebook, you'll need click the Log In button in the top right corner of the page to enter your Facebook email address and password.

   Review the options toolbar. This is at the top of the screen, directly beneath the search bar--you'll need to drag your mouse cursor over each option to view its subsections. Your options include the following:

   • Using Facebook - This section of the Help Center covers basic Facebook functionality, including how-tos on friending, messaging, and account creation.
   • Managing Your Account - Covers items such as your login and your profile settings.
   • Privacy and Safety - Addresses account security, unfriending people, and hacked/fake accounts.
   • Policies and Reporting - Covers basic reporting (abuse, spam, etc.) as well as handling a deceased person's Facebook account and reporting hacked or fake accounts.
   • You can also check out the "Questions You May Have" and "Popular Topics" sections on this page, since they cover common issues and complaints.

   Select a relevant section. For example, if you're having a problem with an impostor account, you'd select the "Privacy and Safety" section and then click Hacked and Fake Accounts.

   Review additional options. In keeping with the impostor account example, you might click the "How do I report an account that’s pretending to be me?" link. Doing so will bring up a series of steps that explain how to remedy your situation.

   • For example, Facebook recommends dealing with an impostor account by going to the account's profile page, clicking ..., and clicking Report, then following the on-screen instructions.

   Use the search bar to expedite your process. To do this, simply click on the search bar at the top of the Help Center page--it will say something like "Hi (Your Name), how can we help?"--and type in a few words related to your complaint. You should see several suggestions pop up in a drop-down menu below the search bar.

   • For example, you might type in "impostor account", then click on the "How do I report an account for impersonation?" result.
   • The search bar here only links to Facebook's pre-written articles--if you're looking for an answer to a specific issue not covered in the Help Center, skip ahead to the Community page.

   Open the Ads Help Center page. If your business or page is having issues with ads, your questions are usually addressed in this section.

   • To delve into advertising, you'll want to click Creating Ads or Managing Ads.
   • For problems with advertising, you'll need to click Troubleshooting Your Ads and then select an issue on the subsequent menu.

   Visit the Facebook Community page. If you can't find your current problem listed anywhere in the Help Center, your best bet is to look for it in the community forums here.

   • You'll see a search bar at the top of this page--you can look up topics (e.g., disabled accounts) from here.

Method 2

Submitting a Complaint via the Better Business Bureau

   Open Facebook's Better Business Bureau page.

   Scroll down and click Submit a Complaint. This is on the lower right side of the webpage next to the Submit a Review button.

   Click Click Here to File a Complaint. This is underneath the "I am looking to resolve a dispute with a business" heading on the left side of the page.

   Fill out the Qualification Questions form. Here, you'll need to click the "Yes" or "No" checkbox for each of the following questions:

   • Is this an employee/employer complaint?
   • Is this a discrimination or civil rights complaint?
   • Does your complaint allege a criminal act?
   • Is this a business with a complaint for collections purposes with another business?
   • Is this complaint in litigation?
   • Is this complaint based solely on dissatisfaction with a price?
   • Is this complaint about a purchase you wish you never made?
   • Are solely seeking an apology from the business?
   • Are you filing this complaint for BBB information only?

   Click Proceed to Complaint Form. You can also click Clear & Start Over to begin filling out the form again.

   Click Proceed. If you want to change the language of the following forms, you must first click the "Select Language" bar in the top left corner of the screen and then click your preferred language.

   Fill out the complaint form. This will differ from person to person based on one's personal information and the nature of one's complaint, but be sure to be as thorough as possible when filling out this form. You should include all of the following:

   • The problem you're encountering
   • The steps you took to resolve the problem
   • The issues you ran into while attempting to resolve the problem
   • Any potential solutions and/or suggestions you can think of

   Scroll down and click Submit Complaint.

   Wait for an email to arrive. Facebook operates on West Coast time, so expect your email to arrive accordingly within three to five business days.

Method 3

Submitting an Appeal for a Disabled Account

   Open the Disabled Facebook Account page. If your account hasn't been disabled (or isn't currently disabled), you won't be able to submit an appeal.

   Click the "submit an appeal" link. This is toward the bottom of the page's paragraph next to the "If you think your account was disabled by mistake" line.

   Type in your Facebook email address. You can also use a phone number here.

   Type in your full name. Make sure the name listed here directly matches the name on your account.

   Click Choose Files. You'll also need to upload a picture of an ID--be it a driver's license, a permit, or a passport photo.

   • If you don't have a picture of your ID available, take one now and send it to yourself via email so you can download it to your desktop.

   Click on a file location. For example, you might click Desktop here.

   Click your ID picture. This will upload it to the Facebook form.

   Type details into the "Additional Info" box. This is the space in which you can justify the reactivation of your account. Consider including details like the following:

   • Why your account shouldn't have been deactivated
   • Why you want your account to be reactivated
   • Any other extenuating factors that might help your account be reactivated (for example, malicious interference with your account)

   Click Send. Doing so will send your form to Facebook for review. Please note that you may not receive a response for several days.

   • If you don't receive a response within a week, try resubmitting your form.

Method 4

Recovering Your Password

   Open the Facebook website.

   Click "Forgot Account?". This option is beneath the "Password" field in the top right corner of your screen.

   Type in your name, email address, or phone number. Make sure you can access whichever platform you choose to go with.

   Check your chosen medium of communication for a code. For example, if you listed your phone number, you should get a text with a code.

   • If you choose email, check your Spam folder.

   Type your code into the "Enter Code" field.

   Click Continue again. You can also choose to log out of your account on all devices if you think your account has been maliciously appropriated.

    Type in a new password.
